July ’25
Saturday’s tournament was going to be 13 players + a bye which was going to give my scoring sheet a good workout but unfortunately it was only 10 players (no bye).
The programme worked really well for the first three rounds. As you can see, it recognised the players that had already played each other and shuffled accordingly. But it had a hiccup for the 4th round again. It was an easy fix though. All I had to do was reshuffle the bottom 4 players. (10 players doesn’t give the algorithm, as it is, enough choice. Note to self; rewrite it!)
Adam got off to a roaring start, winning his first three rounds whilst the rest of us battled to keep up. By the 4th round we had Adam on 3 wins, Martin on 2, Deniz on 2 and Matt on 2 and me.
You can see the draw.
If Adam wins his 4th round match it’s ‘all over red rover’ but that was not to be!
The final wash up was 3 players with 3 wins; myself, Martin and Adam on a count back; 11, 10 and 8 respectively.
There were some very interesting positions, doubling decisions and very close results. All achieved with great humour. Well played, everyone.
I have to especially thank Judith for her sports(wo)manship. A new member, getting used to our playing rules, cubes, clocks etc. She helped me get the tournament back on time, after the late start.
Great photos Adam. Thank you.
