December ’24
I had hoped for a record number of players yesterday but 16 turned into 14 with 2 late scratchings. However; it wasn’t all bad news. I’d decided to run a Masters and an Intermediate with 8 in each flight but splitting the players was proving to be rather difficult until …
We welcomed two new members; Sara and David.
So 8 players played 7 point matches in 2 x 4 player RRs in the Masters with clocks (Group’s Winners and R/Us played for the prizes) and 6 players played 5 point matches in one RR for the Intermediate sans clocks.
I split the prizes thus:
I had amassed $640 (32 members x $20) over the year and I had the usual RACA contribution of a dinner for two and 2 bottles of wine. I had also organised 4 ‘trophies’. One for the overall year’s performance (Club’s Champion) and one for the Winner of the SBC’s December finale. The other two I decided to award to last year’s winners as well.
The pools for the Masters were $170.
Otto beat Andrew in the final and won $200 +$170. Andrew received $140 and a bottle of wine.
Steve beat Adam in the R/U and won $40 and Adam $20
The pools for the Intermediate were $100
Dave was the clear winner 4/5 and won the dinner for two + $100
On a count back, Sherin was 2nd (Bottle of wine + $80), Noah 3rd ($30) and Paula 4th ($30).
Otto won the Red Dice Trophy for the winner of our year’s end tournament.
Morteza will be presented with the White Dice Trophy as our 2024 Club Champion when he’s back from o/s next year.
The other two Die Trophies, Red and White, were presented to Matthew as both the December ’23 Winner and Club’s Champion of 2023.
I hope Otto, Morteza and Matthew (+ friend) all like boiled eggs for breakfast 😉
Last year we had 20+ members. This year 30+. Next year?
See you all in 2025 (I hope to have some good news about ’25 shortly.)
Season’s greetings to all our members.
John (Tournament Director)
